Observations:

February 2014 - Since being recalled by Tampa Bay in November, Brown has done everything he could to stay in the lineup. With injured players returning to the lineup it was Richard Panik, not Brown, sent packing to the American Hockey League. While he's getting chances, points haven't accumulated much yet for Brown despite being one of the team's fastest players. Brown has been playing with AHL linemate Nikita Kucherov on a line centered by usual fourth line center Nate Thompson. With Steven Stamkos set to return soon, it's very possible Brown and Kucherov will end up playing with one of Tyler Johnson or Valterri Filppula which will increase both player's fantasy value. Randy Buschmann

November 2013 - Brown has had a successful start to the 2013-14 season playing on Syracuse's top line with Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestnikov. Brown's four goals and ten points are tied for third on the team, while his 42 shots on goal are tied for first on the team. He's also been a fixture on Syracuse's top power play unit. With Lightning superstar Steven Stamkos set to miss an extended amount of time due to injury, team management decided to give Brown the call to come join the big club.Tampa Bay assistant GM Julian Brisebois has spoken very highly of Brown's performance this season and stated, "He's playing really well. He's playing a strong, two-way game. He deserved the call up. His game is really coming into maturity. Overall, we think he was a better fit for what we need right now.'' Randall Buschmann

June 2013 - Brown's first full pro season was highlighted with a broken collarbone which forced him to miss a large chunk of games. Brown started the season with six goals and 17 points in his first 26 games. After missing a couple months from the broken collarbone, Brown returned to the lineup producing a disappointing four goals and 11 points in 25 games. However, Brown finished the playoffs with four goals and nine points in 18 games while generally earning high praise for his high work ethic and offensive abilities playing on the third line. Due to Brown's abrasive playing style, he'll need to work hard to increase his strength to avoid further injuries down the road. Look for Brown to play the majority of the season in the American Hockey League for 2013-14. Randy Buschmann

March 2013 - Brown broke his collarbone in December and it couldn't have happened at a worse time...Was probably a lock for the Lightning, but instead was healing...Since passed on the depth chart by Killorn and perhaps even Panik...Still potential for numbers at the NHL level, but the Lightning seem to be set in their top six. His value takes a hit. Dobber

March 2012 – Quickness is the name of Brown’s game, as he possesses extremely quick hands and feet. The Minnesota native went to the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2010, and helped them win the National Championship, as well as being named to the WCHA All-Rookie team. Brown, who plays bigger than his size, tallied 47 points in 29 games for the Bulldogs this season. He is the son of former Minnesota Vikings running back Ted Brown. Rich Dillon

Fantasy Outlook: B-

Brown has big-league quickness and a fearlessness to overcome his size, but don’t expect him to produce like a superstar.
