Observations:

June 2013 - Barber had one hell of a year and could already be a steal. After the Caps snagged him in the 6th round of the entry draft, not only did Barber have a fantastic start to his freshman season with Miami (Ohio), but he then won a Gold Medal with team USA at the World Juniors before coming back and finishing at nearly a point per game for the Redhawks. In Ufa for Team USA Barber had six points in seven games but more impressive were his 39 in 40 games as a first year college player, which were good enough for a First-Team All-CCHA selection in addition to CCHA Rookie of the Year honours. This kid has shown right away that he can finish and that he knows how to win (also won Gold for the U.S. at the U-18's) so hopefully it continues for the Redhawks and then the Caps in a few years. December, 2012 – Barber, the son of former NHL player Don Barber, is from the same town in Michigan as Mike Modano. Of course, those facts don’t make him an NHL prospect. His sniper hands, hockey sense and nose for the net do. Barber isn’t big, but is aggressive in puck battles and when claiming a piece of ice his. He is off to a fantastic start to his collegiate career at Miami, with 22 points in his first 18 games and was named to the U.S. team playing in the 2013 WJC in Ufa, Russia.

Fantasy Outlook:  B-

Barber is still tapping his offensive potential, but if he continues to progress he’ll be a top-six forward in three or four years.
