July 2012 – Teubert was a once a highly sought after all around defensemen. Inflated junior stats and high draft status created a buzz about him, but the pro transition has not been great and it has bitten many fantasy managers to this point. His outlook is starting to look much better, as defensemen tend to take longer to develop, Teubert still has time left. In a 24 game look last season he failed to produce, but showed he can contribute as a reliable defender. He will likely start the season back in the AHL, but should be the first call up when needed. One of the more troubling aspects to his game is the lack of goal production, in pro, a big shot point man is a weapon, Teubert is yet to show that his above average shot can provide offence to a team. Edmonton is yet to have any defenseman assert themselves leaving the door open for someone to provide that spark, a strong camp could be the turning of a career for a player like Teubert and with the firepower up front, the ceiling is raised above a player’s internal talent.
All around defenseman, that will find a home in the top two pairings, with an ability to quarterback a power play.
Footage: Great interview with Teubert on where he is and where he needs to get to in order to advance.
