Observations:
March, 2013 - His role with SKA St. Petersburg has been that of a defensive, hard-hitting checker. With Kevin Dallman, Dmitri Kalinen and Yuri Alexandrov on the team, Chudinov is tweaking his game. If he ever comes to the NHL, it may be as a PIM fantasy asset, with little to offer offensively. - Dobber
July 2012 - Maxim Chudinov is an undersized two-way defenseman with skill. Drafted by the Bruins as an overager in 2010, Chudinov has developed nicely in the KHL with his hometown team Cherepovets. The 21-year old scored 9 goals and added 26 assists in 52 games this season, which earned him a spot at the KHL All Star game in January. He played over 23 minutes per game in the 11/12 campaign, which is very impressive for a player his age in the KHL. In addition to offense, Chudinov is not afraid to use the body and is known to take more than a fair share of penalties. Chudinov signed on with SKA St. Petersburg for the 12/13 season, so his ETA in North America remains up in the air.
Fantasy Outlook: C-
Chudinov has good multi-category fantasy upside, however it is unknown when or if he will cross the pond to North America.
