March 2014 – Hansen is currently in his second full season with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. After seeing limited time last year, due to NHL presence from the lockout, he is now a full-time AHLer. He’s proving himself more effective at his second opportunity, scoring eight goals and adding nine assists in 59 games. Hansen is tied for the team lead in shorthanded goals, proving his defensive responsibility along with a scoring touch. He can also throw his fists when called upon. Chris Bagwell

March 2013 - Despite decent college numbers, Hansen has slid seamlessly into the role of checker at the AHL level. Therein lies his NHL future. - Dobber

March, 2012 – Drafted by the Blue Jackets way back in 2007, Hansen completed his career at the University of Minnesota by having his best offensive season.  His 38 points in 43 games nearly doubled his season best, and was good for fifth on the team. Hansen is an honest, hard-working forward who gets involved physically. He was signed by Columbus and assigned to the AHL. Rich Dillon

Fantasy Outlook: D+

If Hansen continues to improve over the next two or so seasons in the AHL, he could see some time in the NHL. This ice time will most likely be on the penalty kill though. Hansen’s responsible defensive game is surely an asset to an NHL, but probably not for your fantasy team.
