Observations:
April 2013 – He did a heck of a job this season in St. John’s playing a very responsible game and kept his name in the running for an eventual recall on a team that has a poor prospect pool on defense. In his recall to the Jets, Redmond was posting very respectable numbers in eight NHL games before an unfortunate incident in practice that left him deeply cut in his upper thigh. Redmond has recently returned to practice after a six week recovery. His return to the Jets may be short lived as he is likely returning to the IceCaps as the Jets are relatively healthy again on the blue line. His early success is worth noting and he has earned himself the right to be one of the primary recalls. Jason Banks April 2012 – Redmond turned heads in the Jets training camp and was a late cut. In his first full season at the pro level with St. John’s he has acquitted himself well. In 70 games he has eight goals, 23 assists for 31 points, and plus-11. Redmond’s stock is rising fast on the virtue of his skating ability, size, reliability and hard accurate point shot.
Fantasy Outlook: C- At 23 years old, Redmond is a late bloomer who may be a year or two away from becoming a reliable all-around defenseman with some fantasy value.
