Miikka Salomäki, C/RW

Shoots: L

Height: 5-11

Weight: 198

Born: 1993-03-09

Hometown: Raahe, Finland

Drafted: 2011 by Nashville Predators, 52nd Overall

January 2014 – Having a strong debut in North America with the Milwaukee Admirals as a 20 year old and has quietly thrown up 27 points is 41 games thus far. He looks like a player that could become a recall in upcoming seasons. He slides around as a relative unknown, but reminds of former Nashville winger Martin Erat and very well could play the exact same versatile role in the future. Keep an eye on him as he could become a cheap pickup as a low end, duel winger with upside. Jason Banks

April 2013 - Salomaki signed a three-year entry level contract with the Nashville Predators. In 42 games with Karpat of the SM-Liiga, Salomaki registered nine goals and 19 points as one of the younger players on the team. Salomaki has represented Finland at the past three World Junior Championships. Brendan Ross

December 2012 - After struggling in the opening months of the season, Salomäki has been improving his game lately. He scored seven points in 10 games in November while his ice time increased up to 20 minutes per game. Salomäki will be one of Team Finland's top six forwards in the upcoming World Juniors. Miika Arponen

October 2012 - Salomäki has been struggling a bit in the first games of the season, but this may be because he has been performing his military service at the same time. His defensive game has been good though despite not putting up the points. Miika Arponen

February 2011 - Miikka Salomäki is certainly the most promising of all Finnish power forward prospects right now. Salomäki has played himself in the second-line center spot in Kärpät team, which has names like Jozef Stümpel, Ivan Huml and Jari Viuhkola in the middle. All former NHLers or national team veterans. Although Salomäki is a bit smallish, only 5' 11", to be a power forward, it doesn't really show in his game. He hits all the time and is also a really good backchecker. He also has a decent shot and has been used on the powerplay both in Kärpät and in the Finland U20 team. Miika Arponen

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Still a couple away from the NHL, but has decent upside to be a good points and PIM producer.

Scores from close in and far out.

Exploits Tomas McCollum coming out of the box.

Beats large Joni Ortio over the short-side shoulder with a nice snapshot.
