Kenny Ryan, RW

Shoots: R

Height: 6-0

Weight: 200

Born: 1991-7-10

Drafted: 2009 2nd round 50th overall –Toronto Maple Leafs

Observations:

December 2012 – Has struggled to stay consistently in the lineup, but that was expected and could find himself being demoted for ice time soon. When Ryan has donned the blue and white jersey, he has been very involved and productive. Currently he has three goals and an assist in a handful of games. With a bigger role, he could be a wildcard to have a very bright future. Jason Banks

April 2012 – Ryan took the development of his game to USA Hockey’s USNTDP and then followed it up with two seasons in the OHL. He plays primarily in a defensive forward role with his team either at center or wing. The versatility he brings makes him an asset along with his hard-nosed approach, although his offensive production is limited. This is his first season at the pro level and has seen action with the Marlies (AHL) and now with the Reading Royals (ECHL).

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Ryan is a gritty and stocky forward with a defensive style.

Footage:

2009 Fantasy Prospects Report:

Scouting Report: In a YouTube world where fancy dekes and goals from one's back make the highlight reels, it's easy for players who simply do everything well to go unnoticed. Take Kenny Ryan. While the NTDP boasts several extremely talented individuals every year, it's Ryan's ability to play anywhere at any time that make him a special player. That's not to say the Michigan native is bereft of skill. Second on the U18 team in goals and first in game- winning goals, Ryan's terrific hands and top-end speed make him harder to stop than a freight train. A heavy, hard shot creates chances for not only himself, but also his linemates. Ryan's physical game and high, high compete level complete the package; not overly tall, he's nevertheless a solid hitter and a capable fighter when required.

Notable Numbers: Ryan led the NTDP in SH goals by a country mile, scoring five of them. The next-highest total was two.

Potential: Better Darren McCarty (25-25-50, 100+ PIM)

Years Away: 4
