Observations:

November 2013 – As the organization’s highest scoring prospect, Abbott has picked up where he left off last year and even took it to another level with 21 points in 17 games. He was given a recall early in the season due to the injury bug, but after posting a negative deuce in five minutes of responsibility, he was promptly returned to the AHL. He excels in playing a wide open, creative game and makes his own space against opponents with his shifty-ness and speed, but unfortunately, he does not have a two way game within him and he commits far too many ill-advised maneuvers, to translate higher. His play is fun to watch, but won’t help him progress to the highest level. Jason Banks

May 2013 – As expected when the NHL lockout ended, he became a fixture in the Marlie top six. It was not expected for him to keep up his early production pace, but the fall was rather dramatic to only contributing in half the games he was a regular in. He still has growth in his game to come but his upside may be capped by his diminutive size. Jason Banks

December 2012– Abbott is coming off an excellent night in which he recorded a trio of assists, two of which were very hard working and excellent feeds to captain Ryan Hamilton. Abbott has been one of the several platoon players on the squad, but he is currently leading the team in points per game with nine in six. Last night’s performance should see him into the lineup more regularly with Jerry D’Amigo being a likely casualty. Jason Banks

April 2012 – Abbott just recently ended his NCAA career with Maine Black Bears (Hockey East) although he is still a leading candidate for the Hobey Baker Award – college hockey’s version of the Heisman. He led NCAA hockey in scoring with 62 points because of his speed and ability to get to the puck quick. Abbott isn’t the biggest player on the ice and his test will be if he can withstand the physical battles on a nightly basis in the pros. He has a nice set of hands with a shot and was assigned to the Marlies (AHL) to embark on his professional career. Russ Bitely

Fantasy Outlook: C+

Abbott is a quick and shifty forward that has offensive talent that will look to duplicate at pro level.
