Observations:
March 2013 – Grimaldi was named to the All-WCHA Rookie Team last week after recording 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points in 34 games in his first full season with North Dakota. He followed that up by posting three assists, 12 shots on goal, and a plus-2 rating against Michigan Tech in the best 2-of-3 series, helping UND advance to the Final Five quarter-final where they will now take on Colorado College. Nathan Kanter January 2012 - Grimaldi had a weak opening three games of the tournament, playing his way from the first line down to the fourth line and, eventually, was stapled to the bench. After the benching he showed signs of life on the checking line, and then turned in a fine performance in the Gold Medal Game. He scored both goals in the 2-1 win, though both goals involved weird/lucky bounces. His skill was evident, as was his determination. Concerned about the consistency and the fact that it took a benching to get him going....May have been the product of a terrible line chemistry early on. Dobber
December 2012 - Grimaldi was one of the 27 American players named to the USA Preliminary roster for the upcoming 2013 World Junior Championships. The undersized forward stands a great chance at making the final roster as he has shown USA Hockey that his knee injury is fully rehabilitated scoring 11 points for the University of North Dakota this season. Brendan Ross
October, 2012 - Grimaldi has shown zero ill effects from his knee injury. He is tearing up the NCAA on a line with Montreal prospect Danny Kristo, and after a tremendous preseason he has continued his strong play with a point in each of his first two contests for North Dakota. With seven shots in two games, he's picking up where he left off in terms of his aggressive play. - Dobber
March, 2012 – A very small player who is solid on his skates, Grimaldi has incredible hands and quick feet. A serious knee injury cost him his freshman season at North Dakota, but he is expected to make a full recovery and be ready in the fall. The feisty winger had 73 points in 58 games for the USDP in 2010-11.
Grimaldi is a dynamic offensive player in a small package. He’s several years away, but could be a good one.
