Observations:

March 2013 – Benn is currently bouncing in and out of the NHL and was very instrumental for the Stars’ resigning his brother Jamie and preventing a prolonged contract battle. He was seeing more minutes during recalls earlier in the season, but his ice time is being cut due to the growth of fellow prospect Jamie Oleksiak. Jason Banks

November 2012 – Once again, is playing with Texas Stars of the AHL after being resigned for a single season by Dallas. If the NHL were to resume it would be expected Benn would be recalled as a sixth or seventh man. Dallas will likely try and keep Benn involved in the organization as long as Jaime is around and Jordie is not struggling, but his upside is rather hindered with more versatile and talented prospects like Brenden Dillon, Jaime Oleksiak, Philip Larsen and Jyrki Jokipakka in the system. March 2012 – Benn is the brother to Dallas scoring stud Jamie. The older Benn took a unique route to the NHL via the BCHL with the Victoria Grizzlies and then ECHL and CHL. Benn is a hard-nosed defenseman who defends well and battles in the corners. Last season he made his AHL debut with Texas Stars and just made his biggest career step yet this season. He was called up to Dallas in 2012 and looks to keep his consistent defensive play in the big leagues.

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Benn plays a solid defensive game and possesses a hard shot for the NHL.
