Observations:
April, 2013 - Matt Nieto signs an entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks. He has a shot at making the roster next season, and may get a call up before playoffs if trades make it necessary. Tim Graveline
March 2013 -- Nieto is having a very solid junior season with Boston University. He’s been on a tear of late and is building his accolades with his scoring prowess. His game is so even-keeled that he has the same amount of goals and assist at this moment. If he opts out of his senior year, he’s got a very good chance of making the Sharks roster next season or perhaps even a shot at the playoffs in a little over a month. --Tim Graveline February, 2012 – Followed up a good freshman season (23 points in 39 games) with an outstanding sophomore campaign (42 points in 39 games). An excellent stickhandler and swift skater, Nieto needs to improve his shot to have a complete offensive arsenal.
Needs another year to get stronger, but projects as a top-six forward with the skill to get power-play time.
