Observations:
May 2013- Frk was able to continue his offensive touch helping Halifax easily dispose of Gatineau, Rouyn-Noranda and Baie-Comeau in a combined 13 games losing only one game in the entire playoffs on route to the 2013 Presidents Cup trophy. Frk put up nearly 2 points-per-game notching 13G-20A-33PTS in 17 games played more goals then both star studded linemates Jonathan Drouin and Nathan Mackinnon. Frk potted home a goal and an assist in the Halifax's opening game of the 2013 Memorial Cup helping upend the highly regarded Portland Winterhawks and number 2 ranked team in the CHL behind only the top rated Moosehead's. Look for the skilled power forward to continue to hit the scoresheet as Halifax continues to push towards capturing their first Memorial Cup Championship. Travis Watson
March 2013- Frk was firing on all cylinders helping easily dispose the QMJHL's defending champion Saint John Seadogs in 4 straight. Frk opened game 1 blasting home 5 goals and 8 points both franchise records for the Mooseheads club. He finished with 10 points in the series playing along side two of the top ranked draft prospects for 2013, Jonathan Drouin and Nathan Mackinnon. Travis Watson
January 2013- Frk is putting together a great year and will likely hit new career highs in all major categories. He is seeing time on a line with 2013 prospects, Nathan Mackinnon and Jonathan Drouin. He’s developing nicely and continues to be a key piece on the stacked Mooseheads. Derek LeBlanc
November 2012- After a mediocre start, Frk is starting to prove he can consistently produce. He’s currently riding a ten game point streak where he has scored 20 points, which included a seven game goal-scoring streak. – Derek LeBlanc
October 2012 - Statistically, Frk is off to a mediocre start with nine points through his opening 11 games but there is concern about his on-ice discipline as the Red Wings' prospect has already received two suspensions early in the season for spearing and slew footing, two penalties that can easily be avoided. Frk is at best when playing on the edge but until he can learn to stay on the right side of that edge he could have trouble showing he could be trusted on the ice. Brendan Ross
August 2012- Frk signed an entry level deal with the Detroit Red Wings after being selecting in the second round in the 2012 NHL draft. He also underwent minor arthroscopic knee surgery and will remain with the Halifax Mooseheads this season.
September 2012- Frk was suspended for the final two games of the pre-season for spearing Cape Breton Screaming Eagles defenceman Jonathan Oligny.
May, 2012: Frk is one of the top draft eligible players coming out of the QMJHL this year. Durability and consistency concerns could see him fall in the draft. He struggled once he returned, but started to produce during the last quarter of the season. His biggest asset is his booming shot, which might be among the best in the entire 2012 draft. He has a nasty, gritty side and is very strong on the puck. He’s the classic high risk, high reward prospect that a team will take their time with. Derek LeBlanc
March, 2012 – The Halifax Mooseheads’ Martin Frk possesses some of the best hands in the 2012 draft class. As a fantasy bonus to his offensive skills, Frk also has a bit of a nasty side. He tallied 186 penalty minutes playing in a Czech junior league at age 16. In the QMJHL however, the 18-year-old draft prospect has yet to tally the same lofty point totals that he routinely produced playing in his native Czech Republic and on the international stage. One reason for that could be that Frk played mostly on the second and third forward lines after returning from a concussion that cost him the first half of the 2011-12 season.
