November 2013 - The Toronto Maple Leafs announced the signing of defenseman Matt Finn to a three-year entry level contract on November 19th. Finn currently sits fourth in OHL scoring among defensemen with five goals, 18 assists for 23 points in 24 games played. The second round selection played in game three of the 2013 SUBWAY Super Series and performed very well in the contest showing improved mobility and confidence with the puck. Finn should remain among the leaders in OHL defensive scoring all season long for the Guelph Storm. Brendan Ross

September 2013 – Finn had a strong rookie camp for the Leafs and was very noticeable in his own zone and with puck movement in the games he played. He had the look of a strong second round pick that could make the NHL earlier than expected when he finally turns pro with limited time in the AHL should his development path continue strongly. It is a bit disturbing that the Leafs cast him back to junior very early in camp with all the other Junior players, he may have benefited more from practicing, working with and seeing how the professional veterans prepared and operated for an extra week before being sent back to Guelph of the OHL. He should produce in the region of point per game in the OHL this season, maybe getting a national team invite for Christmas. There is a logjam in Toronto of talented young defensemen, but Finn already has a professional frame and instincts and could be one of the most evenly balanced of their prospect blue liners. He is not yet worth stockpiling, but keep an eye out for his progression to next training camp. Jason Banks

October 2012 - Matt Finn was named to the 2012 Subway Super Series Team OHL Roster slated to compete in a six-game series versus the Russian National Junior Team in November. Brendan Ross

June 2012 - The Toronto Maple Leafs selected defenseman Matt Finn with their second round pick (35th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  Finn was the Guelph Storm's leading scorer from the blueline with 48 points in 61 games.  Brendan Ross

February, 2012  – A fantastic skater with great balance, Finn is currently ranked in the top 10 in goals and assists among OHL defensemen. His fluid stride and ability to find teammates in ideal scoring scenarios make him a promising fantasy prospect. He has been commended for having a tremendous work ethic. John Canario
