Observations:
May, 2013 - Emerson Etem had a respectable rookie campaign, posting ten points in 38 games. During his first ten or so appearances, he was pushed into a top six role, playing with the likes of Getzlaf and Perry. This proved to be too much for the California native and later settled into a checking/secondary scoring role. This was perhaps the best route to take as it allowed Etem to properly adjust to the NHL. His production hit a big wall in April, scoring one point in 12 games. However,Etem heated up in the playoffs, proving to be one of Anaheim's most consistent forwards all series against Detroit. His play was instrumental in getting the Ducks to seven games against the Red Wings, tallying three goals and two assists in six playoff games. The speedy forward played with tremendous energy and has grown a lot in his rookie campaign. Expect him to challenge for a top six role next season, as he is quickly rising up the ranks. -Kevin Won
January 2013 – He has just received his first NHL opportunity with a recall. He is likely going to play on the fourth line, and is not dominating the AHL. He hit the score sheet for three points in his last AHL game and now has 12 goals on the season. A good showing and he possibly bump Devente Smith-Pelly back to the AHL. Jason Banks
October 2012 - Etem is still looking for his first AHL point. Do not worry about his lack of production to date as he is getting shots off and it’s only a matter of time before he gets comfortable playing against men. Tim Graveline
June 2012 – Etem absolutely tore up the WHL this season, leading the league with 61 goals and finishing 7th in the league with 107 points. The Tigers didn’t progress very deep in the playoffs, but Etem put up 13 points in 7 playoff games. He then signed with the Anaheim Ducks in May, and got a 6 game try out in the AHL, where he netted 3 goals. Will start next season in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch and could get a call up to the NHL at some point through the 2013 season. Todd Poole
February 2012 – Notched his 50th and 51st goals in just his 50th WHL game, a feat not accomplished since 1999 (Pavel Brendl).
Etem should make a quick impact in the NHL, possibly making the Ducks by 2012 or 2013.
