June 2013 – Halischuk is entering a huge year in his career and is a cross roads of what he will be. Despite playing 174 games in his NHL career is not has yet put himself in a solid foothold on a roster spot. He finished the year with 11 points in 36 games sporting his lowest production in three years while his ice time was at its highest. His greatest asset is his locker room qualities and willingness to work on whatever the team needs. He will likely continue to be an NHL utility player for a long time that has some offensive prowess, but not enough to move himself up the depth chart. Nashville has other prospects on the cusp and should reduce Halischuk’s ice time as they come along. His value seems like it will be solely for the on ice product and will have limited fantasy use. March 2013 - Your typical 'tweener' is not good enough offensively for a second-line role, yet not quite solid enough as a checker to effectively play on the third line. See Halischuk, Matt. He needs to take advantage of the little ice time he is given, and so far he hasn't done that. The Preds sent him back to the AHL (conditioning stint) where he tallied three points in two games before getting called back up again. - Dobber

June, 2012 – Halischuk currently sits on the edge of graduation from the DobberProspects.com prospects list. He proved his worth last year with 28 points in 73 games on the third/forth lines. He brings his hard hat and work boots to every game, with heavy hits, great drive and solid two way game. He is very cheap and effective in his role, which makes him a very attractive player in both Nashville and the rest of the NHL.

Fantasy Outlook:  C-

Unlikely to surpass .5 points per game, thus will not be an impact player in fantasy hockey. May have limited use in very deep leagues.

Footage: Halischuk scores a highlight reel goal batting a put out of the air on his back hand.
