September 2013 - Colin Smith has been impressive and has made a real case for himself to make the team out of training camp. He has been consistent and responsible on the ice and has proven to be dependable in the scoring areas. He is a small forward but it hasn't seemed to affect his game much as he put up a goal in the Avalanche annual burgundy and white game, helping burgundy win three to one. Andrew Ward

July 2013 - Colin Smith inked a three year entry level deal with the Colorado Avalanche. One of the more promising young forwards for Colorado, Smith had a stellar season in the WHL finishing with 106 points for Kamloops and tied for fourth in WHL scoring. Andrew Ward

February 2013 - Colin Smith was named WHL Player of the Week (ending February 3rd) after registering 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in four games. Smith currently sits third in WHL scoring with 86 points from 36 goals and 50 assists, which are all new statistical career highs for the fourth year forward. It was the third time that Colin Smith has taken home these weekly honours this season. Brendan Ross

October 2012 – Colin Smith has turned a lot of heads to start the season with the red-hot Kamloops Blazers. After torching the WHL for 85 points last year, Smith has already compiled 28 points in only 13 games. His strong performance is a big reason why the Blazers have yet to lose a game in regulation. Being an overage draft pick last June, Smith was expected to produce big numbers, but no one would have expected such a tear to start the year. Smith is a small forward with a lot of jump to his game. He is a dynamic offensive threat that can make plays with his vision and shot. Size is the biggest concern as he progresses through the junior ranks. Smith was named the WHL Player of the Week for October 14-21. Zenon Herasymiuk

Fantasy Outlook: C

Has shown good offensive upside. Will need to round out other key parts of his game to assert himself as an elite prospect.
