Émile Poirier, LW

Shoots: L

Height: 6-1

Weight: 183

Born: 1994-12-14

Hometown: Montreal, Quebec

Drafted: 2013 by Calgary Flames, 22nd Overall

June 2015 - Poirier was one of two Adirondack players nominated to the AHL All-star game and improved on his puck possession steadily through the season. He only played 55 games since he spent time in the NHL and grabbed one assist in six games while finding himself a healthy scratch on more than a few occasions. Overall, this was a great start to his professional career as he led the Heat in points per game (fourth in AHL rookie ppg) and should continue to push for playing time next year in Calgary. Joel Henderson

July 2014 - Poirier posted two goals and two assists in four games with the Heat to close the year. He will be interesting to watch in camp but will likely figure in as a key point producer in Adirondack this season. Brad Wilson

April 2014 - Gatineau was eliminated tonight by the defending Memorial Cup Champion Halifax Mooseheads. It is quite possible that Poirier joins the Heat in Abbotsford. Will update as I hear... The team just keeps getting better and better. Many Flames prospects are looking at a good long playoff run if all stars align. Brad Wilson

April 2014 - Poirier finished the QMJHL regular season ranked eighth in scoring with 43 goals and 87 points in 63 games. He then potted six goals and eight points in a four game first round sweep of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Poirier has lightning speed and has continued to improve over his young career. He is likely looking at one more season in junior and possibly two years before becoming a Flames regular but the speedy winger has the tools to be a difference maker on a rebuilding Calgary roster. Brad Wilson

February 2014 - The Flames selected Poirier 22nd overall and many felt it was a bit of a stretch, however, it's a move that's looking brilliant now. The Gatineau Olympique star is producing at a fantastic rate with 36 goals and 70 points through 48 games placing him 8th in QMJHL scoring. He's been fiesty and hungry for the puck which should be quickly noted in fantasy leagues because he does own superb multi-cat value. On February 5th, Poirier scored four goals including an absolutely filthy fourth marker to lift his team to a 7-2 victory (video below). Brendan Ross

October 2013 - After tallying three goals and three assists, Emile Poirier was named the QMJHL's First Star of the Week (ending October 6th). In the first seven games of the 2013-14 QMJHL season, Poirier has notched six goals and six assists for an impressive 12 points. He should remain in contention for the scoring lead throughout the season. Brendan Ross

June 2013  Poirier is a player who contributes in all areas of the rink – he scores, he defends, he hits, and he even drops the mitts. He is an intelligent forward with a complete understanding of the game making him extremely versatile. He possesses good top end speed but could stand to become more agile to better elude defenders. Poirier’s puck skills and vision are both advanced and make him an effective penalty killer. In 65 games with Gatineau, Poirier posted 32 goals and 70 points while racking up 101 penalty minutes. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: C+

Poirier should hear his name called in your fantasy leagues early due to his multi-cat top-six potential. He has speed to burn and is a scoring threat on most nights.

Poirier scores a career high four goals vs. Sherbrooke on February 5th, 2014:
